Ice Breaker Reception

Join us on Sunday the 17th for a Reception (18:00-20:00) to be held in an open space (weather permitting) for a round of canapes and drinks to let the first day of the HIC2014 go past. Mingle and socialize with your colleagues, friends and those you do not yet know in a relaxed atmosphere and catch up on the latest. To spice up the evening we also happy to be able to provide life entertainment. We hope to have a band comprised of CCNY’s music program students provide an entertaining musical backdrop for this event.

Banquet

Bring the HIC conference to a closure and join us on Wednesday August 20nd for a Banquet in the festive Grand Hall of Shepard Hall (18:00-20:00). Let the conference go past you and reflect on the things you heard and learned about. While the details still need to be worked out we are planning on an evening program involving some of City College’s music program students/graduates who will perform for you.

Technical Tour

On the last day of the conference, Thursday August 21st, we plan to visit Steven’s Institute of Technology for a tour of the renowned Davidson Laboratories which engages in coastal research including hurricane threat assessment and protecting coastal areas from flooding as the result of severe weather. We will have lunch at the Institute with spectacular vistas overlooking New York Harbor and the southern part of Manhattan. We will finish the day with a harbor cruise allowing for a different view of the “Big Apple”.
